Week in Photos: Returning to Campus During a Pandemic

Fall 2020 semester began at Dalton State last week with Roadrunners flocking to their classes- at a safe distance, of course. Across campus, students are becoming acquainted with new ways to stay safe while being able to continue their learning and still have fun.

As always, the semester kicked off with the Week of Welcome. Fun events sprang up all over campus during the week, with everyone pitching in - including President Venable, pictured above - helping new and returning Roadrunners learn about campus life.

Students on campus have shown great care this week by wearing face masks to keep their classmates safe.  Masks are required indoors and outdoors where it's not possible to safely distance.

As part of the initiative to encourage students to wear masks and follow safety protocols, Dalton State gave masks to students. Not only are these masks free for students, but they also look pretty snazzy!

Safety precautions don’t stop when students enter the classroom. By enforcing social distancing and limiting class sizes, professors and staff are ensuring that students can continue to learn.

Some students have felt isolated during the pandemic, and they can now find ways to safely converse and meet new people on campus. Many of the common student gathering points like the Pope center and outdoor areas are open this semester, but with social distancing in place.

Many of the services Roadrunners have become accustomed to are still available for them. Areas like tutoring, counseling and tech support have virtual and in-person options.

Along with academic services, various other resources such as the Bandy gymnasium's fitness center are now available again. Just be sure to continue to follow safety guidelines!

Things are a bit different this semester, but students can still receive a quality education and college experience. Remember to #ProtectOurBeaks!
